Editorial Standards

Our Review Guidelines

The rules our editorial team must follow on every piece of content we publish.

1. Independence

Rankings and review verdicts are editorial decisions, made exclusively by Ranking Kenya staff. Commercial relationships — advertising, sponsorships or invited reviews — have no influence on editorial outcomes, and staff who manage commercial relationships do not score businesses.

2. Evidence First

Every claim we publish must be supported by evidence: customer feedback data, regulator records, first-hand testing or documented sources. Opinions are clearly framed as our assessment, and assessments must follow from the evidence presented.

3. Fair Representation

We evaluate every business in a category against the same criteria. We do not cherry-pick data to favour or punish anyone, and we present both strengths and weaknesses of ranked businesses.

4. Conflicts of Interest

Team members must declare any personal or financial connection to a business under review and are recused from covering it. Gifts, hospitality or payment offered in exchange for favourable coverage are refused and may be disclosed publicly.

5. Right of Reply

Where a review contains significant criticism, the business is given an opportunity to respond to the specific findings before or shortly after publication, and material responses are reflected in the content.

6. Corrections & Disputes

Businesses and readers can dispute anything we publish via our contact page. We investigate within two business days. Confirmed errors are corrected promptly and the content's update date reflects the change — our timestamps only move when content genuinely changes.

7. Sponsored Content

If content is sponsored or produced in partnership with a business, it is clearly labelled as such and excluded from our independent ranking system.

8. Reader Privacy

We do not sell reader data. See our Privacy Policy for full details on the limited data we collect.
